Course 2@2009 is 7th grade

Curriculum:
I will be teaching the Arizona State Standards. If at any time you would like to review the standards specifically you may view the standards at:

Some of the topics we will be learning this year are as follows:

7^th grade: Integers, fractions, decimals, percents, ratios and proportions, statistics, data analysis, probability, and geometry and measurement.

8^th grade: Number sense, patterns, algebraic thinking, geometry and measurement, linear and non-linear functions, data, statistics and probability.

Recommended Supplies

As your teacher I will come to class each day with a positive attitude and be prepared to teach. As a student your job is to come to class prepared and with a positive attitude.
1. 3-ring binder/loose-leaf ruled paper (1 or 11/2in)
2. Dividers with tabs

3. Spiral Notebook (for class notes)

4. Several pencils (ALL work must be done in pencil)/pens (for corrections)

Expectations:

BE ON TIME. Be in class on time, and in your assigned seat before the bell rings.

BE PREPARED. Be prepared to start learning immediately when entering class. Come to class prepared with your books, paper, pens, pencils.

BE RESPECTFUL. Treat teachers, fellow classmates and guests with respect. Don't talk over others.

BE A GOOD CHARACTER. Participate, show enthusiasm, help a friend and ask questions when needed.

.Homework, Late Work and Absences:

. It is a student's responsibility to make up all work missed. If a student is absent, he/she will have one day PLUS one more day to make up the assignments. (Assignments are updated weekly in class and on my web site!)

Example: Two days absence equals three days to make up all work. A student must contact the teacher to obtain missed assignments upon return to school. Students absent three (3) or more consecutive days may contact the attendance office to arrange to get assignments. Academic grades may suffer as a result of excessive absences.

The student is responsible for picking up his/her missed work from the designated area.

Grading Scale

A = 90 -100%

B = 80 -89

C = 70 - 79 %

D = 60 -69

Grades are weighted and are as follows:

7^th grade

Class work /Homework/ Warm-ups = 45%

Tests/Quizzes = 55%

8^th grade

Class work /Homework/ Warm-ups = 40%

Tests/Quizzes = 60%
